PHAT IS WHERE IT’S AT

There are really only four things to do with paper. Here’s the skinny (which I call “PHAT”). You can PILE/FILE, HORDE, ACT, or TOSS paper. PILE/FILE = Have a pile for things that should be filed. HOARD = These are papers that you can’t part with, but you probably won’t need. Archive them in a (marked) box somewhere out of the way. ACT = Have separate piles for things to pay, do, read, or give to others. TOSS = A nice big circular file (trash) nearby. If you have any papers that don’t fit into any of these four categories, start a junk drawer and throw in the papers you aren’t sure what to do with yet. Every couple of months deal with it or simply dump it.
